Dr Jason Delaney from Mount Sheridan Medical Practice discusses who is at increased risk of the flu.

Those people at increased risk of the flu virus are those over the age of 65, if you an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, if you have a disease such as heart disease, lung disease or other conditions like diabetes, these all make you more likely to get a severe case of the flu or complications from the influenza virus. Also, a very important group that is being more recognised recently are pregnant women. They are more likely to get severe influenza and should be immunised during their pregnancy and it is a perfectly safe immunisation during pregnancy.
